To my Three Daughters

You may ask, why am I sending this to all of you, and not as an individual tagged memories? It comes from my instilled belief, which came from my parents, in particular Nana, that you are all equal. How is it possible to have equal love for each of you?

Mother’s Love Triumphs with Puppy Love

2020 was momentous. Covid-19 pandemic has changed behaviours. At homes, in offices or just everywhere. Full lockdown in Malaysia started in March 2020 and pivoted many adults to conduct work via Zoom and school kids to learn on Teams or Google Meet.

Mother's Day Series [Real Tale #2]

Sallie Lee has a simple wish for her children. After she passes, she wants them to have a meal together on Mother’s Day every year. Sallie fought and beat Stage II cancer. Now still in remission, she has learned to tell her loved ones how she appreciates them. FiveTies has been a useful tool for her to record her profound thoughts and leave heartfelt memories.

Mother's Day Series [Real Tale #1]

I write this as you are packing your bags to study in the UK. You are about to embark on something so wonderful, adventurous and nerve-wracking (for me, at least). I’d be lying to you if I said I wasn’t worried.

Dear Best Friend

My dear Piglet, If I had to pick between the two characters of Winnie The Pooh—Piglet and Eeyore—I’d pick Piglet. And yet here you are, the Piglet to my Eeyore. Your sunniness to my gloominess. I just wanted to say that ever since you came into my life, you had brightened it up so much that I simply cannot imagine my life without you. You are my anchor in times of darkness.....

I Have Cancer

Dear Pumpkin and Carrot, My two dearest ones. I am so privileged to have been able to bear you after years of barrenness. And after such a short time with you, I have this heart-breaking news to tell you, I am dying of cancer. My first reaction was, but I have 2 lovely children... How can I leave them when we have barely begun our journey together?

A Father's Unspoken Words

My dear elder daughter Amelia,   I have never showed you this, but here is a photo of your Kong Kong and Por Por. You know I am a man of few words. I would rather not burden you with the knowledge of how difficult my life was when your grandparents passed away when I was 15.   Now I know my turn to go is near.

The Art of Making Lasting Memories

Key learnings from life experiences While we are navigating through our own lives, we more often than not make mistakes so that we can learn from them. But if we can avoid those pitfalls, simply listening to those who came before us, who have gone through similar experiences, and are willing help us because they love and know us best. Many parents want to share their key life learnings with their children to help them have a better life. I wish that my father could have given me some of his wisdom before he passed on. He thought that he was going to live a long life. Unfortunately, he didn’t. So sometimes, it is best to curate all these things early on, so that we can pass them on to the next generation.
